Position Overview:
The focus of this position is to conduct daily field observations
and to collect relevant construction data at newly constructed
single-family homes, and multifamily dwellings. Data collection is
related to builder construction quality, safety, insurance
compliance, and quality assurance for multiple systems and
components during the entire life cycle of a typical construction
project. The Construction Quality Field Observer provides
construction consultation to assist builders with solutions to
identified problems including, assistance in developing effective
containment and corrective actions to ensure systemic elimination
of associated risk. The position also provides field training to
builder and contractor representatives on a recurring basis.
The primary customers for these services are large production home
builders. The position interfaces with a Central Scheduling (CS)
Coordinator to assess the daily schedule, perform data collection
at scheduled communities while coordinating with job
superintendent, subcontractors and city inspectors. Coordination
and communication with the Field Coordinator and Operations Manager
regarding the status of job sites is frequent, clear, complete, and
is critical.
Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Performing field observations of construction and safety for new
construction builders
Travel daily to multiple job sites
Completing daily inspection reports on tablet or Microsoft
Excel
Communicate inefficiencies and collaborate with the builder on
corrective actions and education of trade partners to prevent
recurrences
Provide onsite contractor training and other quality assurance
activities
Position Requirements:
High School Diploma or AA Degree
Four (4) years of construction experience and/or two (2) years of
field experience supported with a degree in related field of
study
Possession or acquisition of blueprint reading course completion
certificate
Possession or acquisition of ICC IRC- B1 Inspector Certificate or
equivalent
Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. and can navigate construction
projects covering various terrain, building types, architectural
designs, and safety risks
Ability to travel outside of the geographical area to assist in
other regions as needed
Experience in Quality Assurance is preferred
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
High school diploma, or equivalent (GED, Trade School, etc.)
Experience (shall, at a minimum, include one or more of the
following)
Two (2) minimum years of relevant experience in the Construction
Industry, either working for a Builder or Trade
Skill Set:
Ability to communicate effectively verbally, written, and
electronically (email, text, phone)
Handwriting shall be legible
Ability to demonstrate knowledge of basic math skill
Must be able to demonstrate basic common sense of safety on a job
site
Continually demonstrate the ability to maneuver within the within
confined spaces of building being inspected (attic, frame home,
finished home, etc.)
Demonstrate smartphone and computer literacy (Android, Salesforce,
Outlook, Microsoft Suite)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have solid communication skills, and the ability to convey
direction and leadership to Project Superintendents and their
trades to deliver the customers Scope of Work
Good attitude and professional personality
Basic Computer skills
Construction experience
Experience with Construction Details and Drawings
Candidate must be in good physical condition to carry up to 50/lbs.
of equipment, climb ladders, and to hoist themselves up into attic
space
