Job Description:

Position PurposeUnder general supervision, the Landscape Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining the landscaped grounds of the property using hand tools, power tools or other appropriate equipment. This position will also maintain the drip irrigation systems, as well as performing system repairs.Functional ResponsibilityEssential DutiesMaintains the property's exterior landscape and overall appearance in a healthy and aesthetically pleasing condition, including any hardscape and softscape features, by performing groundskeeping and routine landscape maintenance duties such as maintaining lawns, laying sod, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, and rakingMaintains or makes improvements to property by planting, pruning, grooming and maintaining of all ornamental trees, shrubs, flowers, lawns and softscape featuresIdentifies and solves landscape pests, diseases, and soil amendment issuesPerforms minor repairs and routine maintenance on landscaping equipment and irrigation systems, such as repairing water pipes, fitting and joints; maintains equipment to perform dutiesOperates agricultural and construction equipment, such as excavators, backhoes, bobcats, chainsaws and trenchersApplies water as directed, including opening and closing valves to direct waterMonitors, maintains, and communicates irrigation system performanceMonitors blocks to detect leaks, breaks, weak areas or obstructions to the irrigationInstalls underground systems, including digging trenches as neededInstalls and removes sprinkler heads to support machine harvest functionEnsures the proper function of air vents and filtersInstalls, uses, and maintains sand media and screen filters, including all back flush valve and system controls, and pressure regulating valves.Other duties may be assignedNon-Essential DutiesOther duties may be assignedMinimum RequirementsEducation and ExperienceHigh School diploma or equivalent preferred2+ years landscape maintenance experienceCertificates and LicensesValid California Driver's LicenseHorticulture certificate a plusKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesGeneral knowledge of landscape maintenance operationsFamiliarity and knowledge of groundskeeping tools and equipment, such as but not limited to backhoe, wheel tractors, dump trucks in both operation and maintenanceAbility to utilize and operate tools and equipment used in landscape maintenanceKnowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, and proper material handling techniquesAbility to read and interpret warning and danger signs of toxicity, safety data sheets, and pesticide safety informationAbility to work quickly and reliably both as part of a team and independentlyWorking ConditionsGeneral Winery environmentRequired to drive automotive vehicle or equipmentIndoor and outdoor environment with exposure to the elements/temperature variationsExposure to weather-related temperature & humidity extremesRequired to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)Exposure to varying levels of dust, chemicals, fumes, gases, and noisy equipmentWork StandardsActs in a manner reflective of the Company culture of High Moral Standards, Innovation and Continuous Evolution, Trust in Team, Continuous Improvement, and Sustainable RelationshipsCommunicates, interacts, and works effectively with others; receptive to feedback and coaching; voices concerns in a constructive mannerDemonstrates commitment to safety first; communicates safety concerns; promotes a safe work environment based on established safety standards and trainingFollows all Company policies and proceduresAdditional CommentsManagement retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time.Delicato Family Wines offers its employees a generous and comprehensive benefits package.
