REPORTS TO: Project Engineering Manager

Position Summary:

Responsible for Sonic's permitting process with multiple municipalities from application to closeout, while promoting Sonic's core values of outstanding customer service, quality, security and integrity.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Construction Project Engineer I is a full-time (40 hours per week), non-exempt position.

Travel:

Travel is expected for this position. A valid California Driver's License and Clean DMV is required. Class A license is preferred, but not mandatory.

A company gas card and vehicle will be supplied as needed. Gas cards are expected to be used on individually assigned company vehicles only.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Word / Excel / Google Docs / Drop box / PDF / Outlook skills
  • Interface with numerous municipal building and roadway departments to complete permit application requests, coordinate work inspections and secure project completion approvals.
  • Prepare purchase order requests and associated construction tracking
  • Deliver completed permit applications and fees to various Agencies Having Jurisdiction to secure construction permits.
  • Experience / knowledge of State, Highway Department, Railway & Municipal requirements for construction permitting processes.
  • Working knowledge of traffic control permitting requirements.
  • Compile and submit aerial permit applications.
  • AT&T and PG&E paperwork processes processes and procedures
  • Pre and post construction processes.

    • Knowledge/Experience - AT&T, PG&E, or Aerial Utility construction a plus.

      Driving a Sonic company vehicle is expected.

      The Plant crew is exposed to varying site conditions, climates, and elements.

      The Project Engineer must be able to drive a Sonic Company vehicle.
