Position Information
The Department of Health Services (DHS) seeks experienced
candidates for a
Storekeeper position!
Starting salary up to $26.82/hour ($55,976/year), a cash allowance
of $600/month, and a competitive total compensation package!

About the Position
This position is responsible for ordering, receiving, storing,
issuing, and delivering materials and equipment, accounting for
supplies and inventory levels; and tracking and assigning
inventory. Additionally, the position will be responsible for:
Using computer and software programs to create, edit, and print
documents
Delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining positive
vendor business relationships
Conducting ergonomic assessments; providing equipment instructions
and recommendations
Assembling, disassembling, and reconfiguring furniture and
equipment
Evaluating items for use, surplus, or disposal
Ensuring compliance with safety standards
Coordinating with the County warehouse during declared
emergencies
Operating between multiple storage sites within Sonoma County
The ideal candidate will have:
Inventory management and computer skills
An aptitude for assembling both mechanical and non-mechanical
items
The ability to work independently to get a wide variety of tasks
accomplished
A working knowledge of Cal OSHA safety and ergonomics practices
The drive to deliver exceptional customer service
The performance of these duties often requires the exertion of
substantial physical effort. Incumbents may be required to bend,
stoop, reach, and remain standing for extended periods of time.
Salary is negotiable within the established range. Benefits

This recruitment is being conducted to fill one full-time
Storekeeper position in the Department of Health Services. This
employment list may also be used to fill future full-time,
part-time, or extra-help (temporary) positions as they occur during
the active status of the list. Qualified County employees who wish

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience: Any combination of training and
experience which would provide the opportunity to acquire the
knowledge and abilities listed. Normally, one year of experience as
a shipping and receiving or stock clerk would provide this
opportunity.
License: Possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate
level, including special endorsements as required by the State of
California, may be required depending upon assignment to perform
the essential job functions of the position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of: the procedures and techniques of receiving,
storing, issuing and delivering supplies, material and equipment;
general characteristics of various commodities including
familiarity with specifications, major sources of supply and
approximate prices; stock control systems; safety rules,
regulations and procedures related to receiving and storage
activities and equipment; and, the clerical and record keeping
procedures related to shipping, receiving, storage and issuing of
materials, supplies and equipment; construction, maintenance, and
repair of office furnishings; hand tools and power tools used to
build and repair furniture and equipment.
Ability to: organize and maintain a departmental storekeeping
function; establish and maintain adequate inventory controls and
record keeping systems; accurately and neatly complete forms and
records; spot discrepancies between items received and purchase
order, packing slip or property record form; coordinate, schedule
and prioritize work; utilize hand and power tools to build and
repair furniture and equipment; perform routine arithmetic
calculations; deal courteously with individuals contacted in the
course of work; operate a light vehicle; perform tasks which
require physical strength and agility; and read, write and speak
English at the level required by the duties.

examination:
An Application & Supplemental Questionnaire Appraisal Examination
(weight 100%) will be conducted to evaluate each applicant's

minimum qualifications (pass/not pass); and for educational
coursework, training, experience, knowledge, and abilities which
relate to this position. Each applicant will be evaluated based on
the following criteria:
Relevance of work history, related experience, and achieved level
of education and/or training as described in the application and
responses to the supplemental questions.
Candidates demonstrating possession of the minimum qualifications
will be placed on an employment list in order of most qualified to
least qualified based on the achieved score received in the
Application & Supplemental Questionnaire Appraisal Examination.
Scores may be adjusted based on such factors as the number of
candidates, anticipated vacancies, past practice, and natural
breaks in the scores achieved by this group of candidates.
