This position will be located at the Vestas Windsor, Colorado factory.

The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Professional will assist Factory Supervision and Management Teams in the administration of the Vestas HSE Management System. Conducts inspections, assists in investigations and reviews of working conditions and behaviors to ensure compliance with occupational safety, health and environmental regulations.


  • Assist in the planning, development and implementation of safety and health standards, criteria and guidelines, such as those issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and Vestas Corporate applicable regulations. Monitor the factory's compliance level and recommend action for identified at-risk situations
  • Plan, develop and deliver HSE Training curriculum using standard computer presentation programs, to train team members, supervisors, and managers in factory and corporate Vestas HSE practices
  • Inspect organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented
  • Conduct risk assessment and job hazard analysis of job activities to identify hazards to determine use of hierarchy for hazard controls
  • Assist with HSE review of change management
  • Assist with development and issuance of operational procedures and technical guidance to all team and management members in establishing and maintaining safety and health procedures
  • Assist with incident investigations, reporting and follow-up meetings
  • Coordinate and perform industrial hygiene and ergonomic surveys. Document findings according to accepted procedures. Use and maintain HSE related instrumentation, including calibration records
  • Ensure routine Inspections fire suppression equipment, emergency lighting, emergency shower and eyewash units, first-aid supplies, and any other applicable Life Safety device
  • Coordinates HSE program administration (i.e. Respiratory Protection Program, Hearing Conservation Program)
  • Assist with investigative causes of injuries, accidents, incidents and near misses to identify preventive safety measures for incorporation into the safety program
  • Maintains HSE files and records for internal and external auditing compliance
  • Report HSE data in weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reports
  • Review, edit and implement Internal Procedure documents pertaining to identified physical, behavioral, and legal risks and operational controls
  • Maintenance of the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) files locally and via the Vestas 3E MSDS Database
  • Facilitate factory compliance for state and federal regulations for handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste. Liaison with approved waste transporters and recyclers
  • Performs training in the Recycling and Hazardous Waste Contingency plans to affected workers. Arranges for disposal of liquid and solid wastes; maintains State-required records
  • Assist with creation of HSE communications and promotions for teams, supervisors and managers
  • Assist and monitor the administration of workers' compensation program, coordinating work accommodations, tracking restricted/ lost days, and working with the insurance carrier to reduce team member lost time and tracking for OSHA recordkeeping purposes
  • Back up Emergency Coordinator for facility to include Hazardous Waste Operations & Emergency Response, weather emergencies, fires, shelter in place.
  • Assist with compilation of agency reports required by regulatory agencies
  • Maintains programs and record keeping systems that track and evaluate Legal, ISO, OHSAS and Vestas Corporate compliance to established standards
  • Incorporate Vestas Values in all aspects of the job


  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) is required. Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental, Industrial Safety preferred.
  • Five years direct experience with Health, Safety and Environment compliance.

  • Experience with Workers Compensation, HSE, ISO 14001, 45001 program management, Industrial Hygiene principles and equipment - noise dosimeter/mapping of production areas, particulate filters and pumps, operation of multi-gas detectors is desired
  • Ability to incorporate Behavioral Safety Principles into all aspects of HSE programs
  • Driver's license and ability to travel as needed to support local factory needs.
  • Ability to obtain passport
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other team members of the organization, including factory management team
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and regulations
  • Ability to write simple to complex correspondence and reports

Essential Functions:

  • Will be required to see and hear alarms, timers and follow verbal instructions
  • Will be required to tolerate an environment where chemicals and materials are used within OSHA guidelines

  • Will be required to work in extreme weather conditions
  • Must possess a valid a driver's license
  • Ability to travel to various factories as position requires

Pay: 401K, FTO, Medical, Dental, Vision and many more benefits Salary: $75, 000 - $90,000/year
