These patients usually come directly from a Short Term Acute CareHospital (STCH) and are in need of vent weaning and acute rehabilitationservices for a longer period of time to recover and return to their optimallevel of health. The average length of stay (ALOS) of these patients is a rangeof 25-35 days which is a longer than average stay at a Short Term Acute CareHospital. Care for these types of patients is provided by RNs, RespiratoryTherapists, Wound Care Nurses, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists,and Speech Therapists. Also a collaborative team of specialty physicians,psychologists, dieticians, and social workers will focus on an individualizedgoal for each patient to recover and reach their independence and optimum levelof a missing piece in the continuum of care within the health caresystem.Job Summary:The Fire Watch Technician will constantly scrutinize a prescribed area of concern throughout the facilities interior and exterior. Duties and Responsibilities:They will keep a meticulous record of any suspicious or potentially hazardous conditions and report said conditions to the appropriate person or departmentThe Fire Watch Technician will activate appropriate alarms and promptly contact emergency response personnel when necessaryThe Fire Watch will use phone, email and wireless communication devices to report concerns and informationThe fire watch must communicate a through handoff to inform the fire watch person who takes over the next shift of any abnormalities or concerns that need close observationEducation, Training and Licenses Required:High school graduate or equivalentSome technical, vocational, or trade school desirableExperience Required:Background in fire prevention, fire education or firefighting is desirableFamiliarity with alarm systems and emergency protocol procedures is an assetExperience in safety inspection is a plusExperience in security a plusKnowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:Reliable and trustworthyExcellent communication skillsExcellent common sense abilityMust read, speak, understand, and write English Equipment Knowledge Required:Fire ExtinguisherBlow hornElectronic communications (cell phone, email, etc.)Working Conditions (Noise, Environmental, Demands, Shift, Setting, Human Interface, etc.):Works rotating shift when necessary. Lifting and carrying of equipment and components; exposure to environmental conditions, i.e. dirt, noise, heights, and confined working spaces. Caution, good judgement and care must be exercised for one's own safety and the safety of others. Safety Requirements:Employees are responsible for all aspects of the hospital safety and health program including compliance with safety rules and regulations, remedying unsafe working conditions, and for continuously practicing safety while performing duties.Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the position is frequently required to do the following:Stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and stand for sustained period of timeWalk, push, pull, lift, carry objects from a lower to higher position or horizontally from position to position or otherwise move objectsFeel sizes, shapes, temperatures, and textures by touching with skin, particularly that of the fingertipsExpress or exchange ideas orally and potentially loudly, accurately, or quicklyPerceive the nature of sound with no less than a 40 db loss @ 1000 Hz and 2000 Hz with or without correctionExert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequentlyMinimum standard of visual acuity with or without correctionWhile worker may possibly be subjected to temperature changes, the worker is generally not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions as the work is predominantly insideSupervisory Requirements: NoneWork Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
