Women and Children's Service Line Regional Director - Northern California This is an unparalleled opportunity for a  Regional Director, Women & Children’s Service Line – Providence St Joseph Health Northern California .  Reporting to the Regional Chief Strategy Officer, the Regional Women & Children’s Service Line Director is accountable for leadership, direction and implementation of Women & Children’s Services for St. Joseph Health, Northern California (NorCal). Working in collaboration with and maintaining a matrixed reporting relationship to the Regional Chief Medical Officer and Regional Chief Operating Officer, the Director will lead the effort to standardize care delivery, improve clinical quality and outcomes across the Region; reduce clinical and practice variation; improve operations and financial performance; and develop and implement key strategies included on the NorCal Regional Integrated Strategic & Financial Plan (ISFP). The Director will also partner with dyad physician and operational leadership and focus on the following key responsibilities:

Transform delivery of clinical care – Develop and implement services and program strategies that provide an exceptional patient-centered experience by developing a seamless care delivery system and innovative care models to improve quality outcomes, reduce unnecessary clinical variation and improve coordination across the continuum.

Create alignment with physicians and clinicians – Create and implement internal and external provider alignment strategies that strengthen seamless and innovative care delivery and achieve the Quadruple Aim: improved quality, affordability, customer experience and work life balance of clinicians and staff.

Thrive under new reimbursement models – Collaborate with the Regional payor contracting team to develop program strategies and partner with payers, purchasers and providers to develop reimbursement models that advance seamless and innovative care delivery by rewarding quality, care coordination and value.

Enhance access by improving affordability – Develop and implement program strategies to enhance access to care and improve health care affordability by providing value-based care across the continuum and reducing overall administrative and care delivery expenses.

Grow to meet community needs – Create and implement strategies to serve more people throughout the continuum of care via appropriate growth and development of programs and services in existing and new markets. This includes potential pursuit and development of academic and community partnerships with other organizations.

Key Responsibilities: In collaboration with Regional, Ministry, physician and operational leadership and other key stakeholders, develop and successfully implement Regional strategies for Women & Children’s Services (to be included in the ISFP) including distribution of clinical services, ministry and market-specific growth plans, capital planning and resource allocation across the continuum.

Develop and implement a physician alignment and growth strategy across the Region for Women & Children’s Services including medical foundations, medical groups, IPAs, and independent practices.

Collaborate with operating teams and clinical leaders to assure the effective and efficient delivery of services including patient throughput, patient experience, physician engagement and satisfaction, quality outcomes, workforce planning, caregiver engagement and standardization.

Develop and oversee Women & Children’s Services operating and capital budgets across the Region.

Develop and maintain a Regional balanced scorecard to monitor and measure key performance goals and outcomes, including Quadruple Aim goals, program growth, physician alignment, financial performance and other goals that may be established. Align regional goals with PSJH clinical institute executive and other metrics.

In collaboration with Regional and System collaborate, develop and implement evidence-based, best practice clinical protocols across the Region to improve health outcomes across the continuum. Work with key administrative and physician leaders to gain consensus.

Collaborate with the Regional payor contracting team to develop new financing models to connect program strategies in support of affordability, high quality and coordination of care (e.g., bundled payments).

Collaborate with Community Health Investment, Population Health, and physician leaders to develop and implement Patient-Centered Medical Home models for complex and/or chronic care patients.

Develop and coordinate program strategies for delivery of outreach services, including telehealth.

As administrative dyad lead, represent the Clinical Institute and service line on key System, Region and Ministry committees to formulate strategies and tactics to achieve identified goals and objectives.

In collaboration with the Clinical Institute, Strategic Services and marketing, establish priorities for program marketing development and outreach designed to support growth.

Assure that all regulatory requirements for the Women & Children’s Services are within compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required qualifications and education for this position include:

Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Management or Business Administration, or a related field.

Five (5) years regional or hospital experience in business development, planning, operations or equivalent.

Strategic Planning, Business Development and Operations background.

Ability to be a team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills; track record of developing collaborative and effective working relationships with physicians, clinicians, management, colleagues and peers; ability to motivate, lead and influence others to successfully implement key operational and clinical improvements, strategies and tactics.

Advanced problem-solving skills with a strong ability to conduct strategic analysis, including of the development of financial models and internal/external research to support business decisions. Advanced computer skills to present information in a meaningful manner.

Strong understanding and knowledge of emerging healthcare trends, market and technology trends, including influencing growth, utilization and delivery of Women & Children’s Services.

Advanced communication and interpersonal skills that enable interaction with senior executives, boards, physicians, peers, caregivers, community sectors and outside vendors.

Leadership skills including the ability to prioritize and organize work; flexibility and agility to process information and adapt quickly to a changing healthcare environment; create goals and accountability; lead projects from concept to implementation; and achieve results. Strong ability to organize and prioritize in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with success at simultaneously managing a variety of complex projects.

Must be able to assume a high degree of independent functioning, demonstrating prudent decision making, autonomy and flexibility.

Self-motivated individual with the ability to independently judge, prioritize and accomplish major job duties and responsibilities. Comfortable in a complex matrix structured organization.

Prior success in treating all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.

Ability to cooperate fully in all risk management activities and investigations.

Preferred qualifications and education for this position include:

Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or comparable degree.

Experience with strategy, planning, physician relations.
