Ensures patient safety related but not limited to, medications and procedures utilizing the five rights; patient falls; decubitus prevention and prevention of nosocomial infections.
Ensures optimal pain control and patient comfort; identifies and discusses patient anxieties, fears or concerns regarding patient condition, treatment or discharge.
Ensures that patient understands medication purpose, side effects, and administration instructions in the hospital as well as at the time of discharge.
Patient Care Experience:
Promptly answers call lights, alarms, and patient requests.
Makes appropriate referrals and facilitates the customer's ability to utilize resources.
Provides an optimal patient care experience by actively listening to the needs of patients and family members and taking responsibility for meeting those identified needs.
Gives patients information in a way they can understand and ensures comprehension.
Provides a patient care experience that exceeds members' expectations.
Acts as a resource, preceptor, and mentor to new employees, registry, students, and other team members.
Attends all mandatory meetings, in-services and staff meetings as required, actively participates in other departmental professional development. (Requirement may vary for per diem staff).

Keeps self-informed of activities on the unit and makes recommendations for change.
Adheres to Attendance Program. Reports to assigned area promptly, being present and available for report at beginning of assigned shift.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served including knowledge of the principles of growth and development and psychosocial characteristics and interventions for infant (0-1 year), child (1-5 years), school age (6-12 years), adolescent (13-17 years), young adult (18-45 years), middle adult (46-60 years), older adult (60+ years).

Minimum Position Qualifications:
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
One (1) year RN experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting required.
Previous experience in a leadership role.
License / Certification:
Current CA RN license
Current BLS certification
IV certified or equivalent
Computer Skills: Basic computer skills in a Windows operating environment including Word, Excel and e-mail system.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
Strong written and verbal communications skills to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Must possess a professional and mature demeanor.
Strong organization skills

Preferred Position Qualifications:
Education: BSN preferred.
Experience: Two (2) plus years--- RN experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting highly desirable.
License / Certification:
Computer Skills: IDX and EMR experience a plus.
Other: Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
Environmental Conditions: May include exposure to potentially hazardous material, infectious agents, contact with patients, public and staff.
Physical Requirements: Sitting, standing, walking, standing, bending, climbing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, pushing/pulling, lifting/carrying up to 50lbs., and grasping.
