Job Description Supervising Engineer About the Company:
Coastland | DCCM has an immediate opening for a Supervising
Engineer involves delivering engineering review services to public
agency clients. About the Role: The Supervising Engineer oversees a
team of professional and technical personnel engaged in engineering
tasks, including the preparation of proposals, work estimates,
studies, and reports. This role involves supporting the
establishment and execution of departmental goals, as well as
supervising the creation of intricate designs, plans,
specifications, and budgets related to various engineering
services. The Supervising Engineer is responsible for managing
extensive civil engineering domains such as roadways, traffic
systems, water resources, storm drainage, and sanitation, and may
also offer contract City Engineer services. Key responsibilities
include: Conducting technical research on engineering challenges,
fostering effective relationships with staff and clients, and
supervising the training of team members. The role also entails
assisting in setting and achieving objectives for the engineering
division, managing the division's budget, and overseeing
performance evaluations, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
Additionally, the Supervising Engineer ensures quality control and
budget compliance for all projects, supervises the development of
construction plans, and participates in special engineering studies
and reports. Position requires include: Collaboration with
colleagues on project priorities and progress, involvement in
planning and design review meetings, and providing technical design
support to project teams. Responsibilities also include reviewing
and approving engineering drawings and related invoices, managing
sub-consultant agreements, and staying updated on relevant laws,
regulations, and techniques to enhance project execution. The
Supervising Engineer plays a crucial role in developing and
implementing procedures, standards, and systems within the
engineering division. Qualifications, Education and Experience: Any
combination equivalent to the education and experience likely to
provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A
typical way to gain such knowledge and abilities would be:
Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or
university in an engineering discipline related to the area of
assignment. Experience: Ten years of increasingly responsible
experience in professional engineering work in the area(s) of
assignment, including three years supervisory experience.
Possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Professional
Engineer issued in the State of California, and in good standing
with the State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license.
