If you thrive in a high pace environment, multi-tasking to support a variety of customers in different markets, all the while utilizing your experience base in all things quality systems this is the place for you. We work in a high-mix low-volume environment that serve many customers from consumer electronics to defense. Our ITAR facility will require that you study and understand customer critical requirements and ensure there is floor-level understanding of these requirements.This individual will be responsible for ensuring customer requirements are met throughout product realization to produce optical filters; this means correctly realizing customer products and minimize opportunities for errors. These errors of accuracy/correctness/interpretations can occur beginning with understanding of customer requirements and ending with product routing and shipping documents.This person is expected to completely understand customer expectations and Critical to Quality (CTQ) requirements and convert these into Viavi specifications and instructions leading to compliant products. This person will lead or participate in continuous improvement efforts, participate in the quotation process, and may support new product development teams. This individual must possess the technical capabilities for these skills and responsibilities including: good verbal and written communication skills, computer skills, and data analysis abilities. As a VIAVI employee, this person is expected to be a role model relative to safety best practices.Responsibilities--- Participate in the production planning of new orders.
--- Understand customer requirements and convert these into Viavi specifications and instructions to correctly realize products.
--- Collaborate with customer facing employees (Sales, Application Engineers, etc.) and possibly the customer to elicit full understanding of customer requirements.
--- Perform critical review of customer requirements, internal requirements and product realization documents to eliminate opportunities for error.
--- Define and ensure Quality Checkpoints, instructions and tests to meet or exceed customer requirements are clear and correct.
--- Correct and prevent quality issues. Proactively address quality issues both internally and externally with the customers.
--- Drive or participate in the non-conforming material review board (MRB) processes, create Waivers for customer approval.
--- Proactively identify, develop, and analyze quality metrics to drive continuous improvement. Create, report and present quality metrics.
--- Utilize data analysis, statistical tools, SPC, RC/CA, FMEA and DOE methods to support/drive continual improvement.
--- Be a technical resource for measurement systems and processes.
--- Provide Quality Engineering support for current production activities.
--- Support and maintain integrity of the Viavi OSP Quality Management System (Document Control, NCMR, CAR, Customer Complaint, PCN, etc.)
- Qualifications Required Skills/Qualifications--- Bachelor or Master's Degree in Engineering or related sciences
--- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Manufacturing or Quality Engineer in a production environment
--- Requirements Management experience, skills, and tools. (e.g. CTQ, CTP)
--- Data analysis skills to transform and load data from multiple sources (databases, Excel files, other systems).
--- Solid foundation in statistical analysis; working knowledge of Minitab desired; experience with JMP is a plus.
--- Experience with Measurement System Analysis (e.g. Gage R&R) methods and interpretation. Working knowledge of how to create and understand flow charts, FMEAs, Control Plans, Control Charts, Pareto Charts and Histograms.
--- Ability and experience with 8D (root cause/corrective action) or equivalent process and tools.
--- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification highly desirable.
--- Competent computer skills including use of Microsoft Windows and Office tools - especially Excel.
--- Excellent communication/presentation skills and ability to lead and work with teams.
--- Able to prioritize and complete projects and tasks on time often under pressure, ability to multi-task is imperative.
--- ASQ certification(s) are a plus (e.g. CQE, Internal Auditing).
--- Working knowledge of AS9100 and IATF16949 a plus
--- Fluent in English, must be ITAR eligible.This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by export laws of the US.
