POSITION: Assistant Boxing Coach
DEPARTMENT: Double Punches Boxing Club
SUPERVISOR: Boxing Club Program Director
STATUS: Non-Exempt / Part Time

BASIC PURPOSE
Under the supervision of the Boxing Club Program Director, the
Boxing Coach will assist in the training, instruction and
supervision of youth and adults participating in the Double Punches
Boxing Club Program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruct and work with athletes to prepare them for
competition.
Model and teach the elements of ROOTS: Respect for Rules,
Opponents, Officials, Teammates, and ones Self.
Schedule practices for participants.
Prepare bout cards/matchmaking
Drive and accompany boxers to special events and tournaments.
Assist with maintenance and cleanliness of gym and equipment.
Provide administrative support to the Boxing Program as
required.
Remain up-to-date on boxing rules and regulations.
Performs additional duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIREMENTS
Education Requirements
Minimum High School Graduate or GED with basic understanding of
business concepts, grammar, spelling and math activities.
Must be independently motivated yet be able to work cooperatively
and cordially in a team setting.
Licensed through USA Boxing, Inc. on an annual basis.
CPR certification and background check required.
Expert knowledge of the rules, strategies and techniques of
boxing.
Knowledge of boxing equipment and its proper use.
Knowledge of USA Boxing rules and regulations.
Knowledge of weight classes and scoring system used during
competitions.
A Valid California Drivers License and at least 21 years of age
with driving performance history sufficient to allow continued
insurance coverage by Salvation Army underwriting guidelines is
required.
Must be able to complete Salvation Army Drivers and Child Safety
Training.
Skills
The ability to clearly communicate (both verbally and in writing)
bilingually (English and Spanish) with and provide supervision for
children and adults in a positive manner.
The ability to make decisions under pressure and act with maturity
and self-confidence.
An awareness of the special needs of youth and adults at risk for
gang involvement and the ability to help them find ways to
re-direct their energy into positive directions.
Physical Requirements
To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must be able to
perform the essential duties with or without accommodation. While
performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly
required to sit, talk, see and hear; use hands; stand, walk, and
reach with hands and arms.
The employee needs to be in excellent physical condition, able to
demonstrate the required disciplines of exercise and boxing.
Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties
