Job Description:

Accounting Planning and Reporting - 40%

  • Direct the preparation of budgets including monthly analysis of variances.
  • Prepare reports that summarize and forecast business activity and financial position in areas of income, expense and earnings based on past, present and future expectations.
  • In conjunction with Controller, prepare monthly board reports.
  • Analyze and recommend insurance coverage to protect against property losses and potential liabilities.
  • Coordinate, develop and update written policies and procedures over the financial reporting process.
  • Preparation of monthly federal and state tax accounting and quarterly calculation of deferred taxes.
  • Ensure preparation of federal and state tax returns.
  • Research and resolve accounting issues including evaluation and implementation of new accounting pronouncements to ensure US GAAP compliant.
  • In conjunction with Controller, prepare footnotes for year-end financial statements.
  • Recommend and implement cost saving measures including evaluation of process efficiency.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over the financial reporting process.
  • Preparation of annual cost center accounting.
  • Advise accounting staff regarding the handling of non-routine transactions.

    Model Management - 40%

    • Manage the Bank's models both internally-developed and purchased from a vendor.
    • Model management includes review of model assumptions, verification of data used in modeling process, reporting and analysis of model outputs.
    • Maintain policies and procedures.

      The Bank's models include:

      • Asset Liability
      • Relationship Profitability
      • CECL / Sageworks
      • Liquidity Stress Testing
      • Management Performance Dashboard
      • Capital Stress Testing

        Investments - 10%

        • Involvement in the day-to-day investment process including approval of investments proposed by investment manager and reporting to Investment Committee and Board of Directors.

          Other Duties - 10%

          • Attend internal and external management meetings and represent the Bank at external functions and activities.
          • Perform special projects as required.
          • Perform other duties as assigned.

            MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

              Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

              • Strong technical US GAAP accounting knowledge
              • Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and practices and operational functions within a full-service financial institution.
              • Knowledge of best practices in internal controls
              • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for financial institutions, with knowledge of regulatory requirements for community banks.
              • Skill in reading, analyzing and interpreting business periodicals.
              • Skill in comprehending technical procedures, government regulations and reports and to apply the information to improve the Bank's performance.
              • Skill in analyzing and comprehending financial statements, as well as to grasp the impact of financial information.
              • Skills operating a personal computer with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and project management software.
              • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
              • Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions.

                Licenses and Certifications:

                • CPA designation is required.

                  Physical Requirements:

                  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist and turn.
                  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
                  • Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator.
                  • Work environment is indoors, majority of the time is spent sitting at a desk.

                    Education and Experience:

                    A combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field; and knowledge typically gained through a minimum of six to eight years of public accounting firm or related experience. Financial institution experience preferred, not required.

                    Compensation:

                    Salary Range for this position is $125,000 to $185,000 per year.
